NM Centennial Parade January 7, 2012

 

The Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces would like to honor Braceros who still live in our community.

 

The Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces would like to honor Braceros who still live in our community.  Honored in the parade were Isidoro Vaquera, Sr. and Ramon Jimenez, braceros.  Joining them are board members John Munoz, Board President, Santiago Soto, Vice President, Jessie Sanchez, Treasurer, Isidoro Vaquera, Jr. and Pedro Ibarbo III, who represents his grandfather, Pedro Ibarbo, who was also a part of the Bracero program. We recognize that the braceros are pioneers that paved the way for generations of Hispanic, Mexican, and Latino leaders.  We acknowledge their sacrifice and service to our country during WWII from 1942-1964.    The Braceros are riding in style today in a rare vintage 1951 bullet-nose Studebaker owned by Junior and Stella Frausto, and a 1939 Pontiac sedan owned by Manny and Christine Lopez.  Thanks to all who made the parade a success!

La cámara de comercio de Hispano de Las Cruces le gustaría honrar Braceros que aún viven en nuestra comunidad.  En el desfile  honramos Isidoro Vaquera, Sr. y Ramon Jimenez, braceros.  Uniéndolos son miembros de la Junta John Muñoz, Presidente de la Junta, Santiago Soto, Vice Presidente, Jessie Sanchez, Isidoro Vaquera, Jr. y Pedro Ibarbo III, quien representa a su abuelo, Pedro Ibarbo, quien también fue parte del Programa Bracero. Reconocemos que los braceros son pioneros que allanaron el camino para las generaciones de líderes hispanos, mexicanos y latinos.  Reconocemos su sacrificio y servicio a nuestro país durante WWII, entre 1942 y 1964.    Los Braceros están montando en estilo hoy en una viñeta rara vintage 1951 Studebaker propiedad Junior y Stella Frausto y un sedán Pontiac de 1939 por Manny y Christine Lopez. Muchisimas gracias a todos que participaron!

Hispano Chamber Names Interim Office Manager
Las Cruces, N.M. – Gricel Chavez, former special events director for the Building Industry Association of Southern New Mexico, has been named as the Interim Office Manager for the Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces.

Chavez brings more than five years of nonprofit experience to the Hispano Chamber.

"Gricel brings with her a great deal of proficiency in the fields of event management, marketing, membership recruitment and fundraising," said John Muñoz, president of the Hispano Chamber. more info

Hispano Chamber Executive Steps Down to Take Position with Local Company
Las Cruces, N.M. – Gabe Vasquez will relinquish his position as Executive Director for the Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces effective Wednesday, Aug. 31, to take a position as a public relations consultant for a local company.

Vasquez said he regrets not being able to stay with the organization in this role, but was offered an ideal opportunity to advance his career in Las Cruces. more info

Hispano Chamber to host Small Business Lending Fair Aug. 5

Las Cruces, N.M. – Local bank representatives and business counselors will join the Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the City of Las Cruces to distribute information and answer questions from the public during the inaugural Small Business Lending Fair, set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

The first event of its type and size in Las Cruces, the Small Business Lending fair is a new annual event organized by the Hispano Chamber targeted at local economic development by facilitating the start-up and expansion of small businesses in our community. more info
